Spotify’s New “Partner Program” for Podcast Hosts: A Game-Changer in Monetization
Spotify has taken a significant step forward by introducing its new “Partner Program,” allowing popular podcast hosts to monetize their video content. This initiative opens up additional income streams for creators, going beyond the traditional advertising revenue. The program, first announced in November, is now available in the U.S., the U.K., Canada, and Australia, as of Thursday.
With this move, Spotify aims to expand its video podcast library, strategically positioning itself against YouTube, which currently leads the video content domain. Interestingly, since the announcement at Spotify’s Now Playing event, over 65% of eligible podcast shows have enrolled in the Partner Program. Some notable participants include Smart Money Happy Hour, The Paranormal Podcast, The Makeshift Podcast, and Girls Rewatch Podcast.
- Extra income opportunities beyond advertising
- Ad-free video podcasts for Premium users
- New tool: Podcast Clips for promotion and discovery
Spotify has also introduced an ad-free viewing experience for Premium users watching video podcasts. Furthermore, the launch of Podcast Clips—short-form videos created by hosts to promote their shows—intends to make content discovery more accessible. Since its introduction in selected markets last November, Spotify reports that these clips are “33% more effective than previews at converting browsers into engaged listeners.”
“This program represents a new era of opportunity for podcast creators, offering unique monetization options while enhancing user experience,” says a Spotify spokesperson.

By providing more ways for creators to earn and engage audiences, Spotify’s Partner Program could redefine how podcasters interact with their content and audience. As this program rolls out across more regions, it will be interesting to see its impact on both creators and listeners.
