Bluesky Introduces Trending Topics Feature: Here’s What You Need to Know
On Christmas, social network Bluesky announced it is testing a new trending topics feature, now available to users worldwide on both desktop and mobile platforms. This feature allows users to stay updated on the most popular discussions happening across the network. On the desktop version, trending topics can be found on the right sidebar, while mobile users can simply tap the search button to access them.
- The feature is currently available only in English.
- Users have the option to disable trending topics by navigating to Settings > Content and Media and unchecking “Enable trending topics”.
- Muted words are respected, ensuring unwanted content doesn’t appear in trending lists.
“We’re excited about this first version of trending topics and are committed to enhancing it based on user feedback,” Bluesky stated. With over 25 million users now on the platform, this marks a significant milestone in its growth journey.

Interestingly, while Bluesky is just rolling out this feature, some third-party clients like Greysky had already implemented it last year. As for competitors, Threads launched its trending topics feature to all U.S. users back in March and began testing in Japan in October.
Overall, this development reflects Bluesky’s dedication to improving user experience by offering features that keep users engaged with relevant content. As they continue refining this tool, it will be intriguing to see how it evolves and compares to other platforms.
