AMD’s Bold Moves at CES 2025: A Glimpse into the Future of Computing

At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, AMD showcased an impressive array of new chips designed for everything from desktops to gaming handhelds. Riding high on their recent success, with a commanding 28.7% share in the desktop CPU market as of Q3 2024, AMD is not slowing down. This year, they’re taking bold steps with their multi-faceted strategy, starting with the Ryzen 9 9950X3D.

Aimed at gamers and creators alike, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D boasts 16 cores based on AMD’s Zen 5 architecture, reaching speeds of up to 5.7GHz. According to AMD’s benchmarks, this processor is about 8% faster on average in popular games like Hogwarts Legacy and Starfield compared to its predecessor, the 7950X3D. Alongside it, the Ryzen 9 9900X3D offers a slightly lower-tier option with 12 cores clocked up to 5.5GHz, both expected to hit the market in Q1 2025.

  • Fire Range Lineup: Targeting midrange laptops and ultraportables with models like the Ryzen 9 9850HX, these chips promise efficient power usage and high performance.
  • Ryzen AI Series: Designed for Copilot+ PCs, these processors come equipped with neural processing units to accelerate AI workloads.
  • Budget-Friendly Options: The Ryzen 200 series aims to provide value without compromising performance.

“AMD’s strategy for 2025 is not just about maintaining momentum but propelling forward with innovation and efficiency.”

In addition to these CPUs, AMD introduced new GPUs — the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 — built on the RDNA 4 architecture. These cards promise enhanced ray tracing and media encoding capabilities, available from major manufacturers by Q1 2025. Furthermore, AMD highlighted its FidelityFX Super Resolution 4.0 technology, which uses AI algorithms to upscale gaming content to up to 4K resolution efficiently.

To top it off, AMD’s Adrenalin software now includes AI features for image generation and file summarization, enhancing user experience through innovative technology.

With such a comprehensive lineup across various segments, from high-end gaming rigs to budget-friendly devices and AI-enhanced PCs, AMD is clearly setting a robust course for the future of computing technology.
