Decart: The Ambitious AI Startup Making Waves in the Tech World
A Bold Vision and Rapid Growth
Less than two months out of stealth mode, Decart is already turning heads with its innovative approach to artificial intelligence. With an impressive backing of high-profile investors, this young startup aims to revolutionize the AI landscape. CEO and co-founder Dean Leitersdorf describes Decart as “a fully vertically integrated AI research lab.” Their enterprise product, which optimizes GPU usage, is already generating millions in revenue. Meanwhile, their consumer offering, Oasis—a playable “open world” AI model—has captivated millions of players since its launch.
Funding Success and Ambitious Goals
Following a successful launch, Decart has secured $32 million in a Series A funding round led by Benchmark. This comes on the heels of a $21 million seed round from Sequoia and Zeev Ventures. With a post-money valuation now exceeding $500 million, it’s clear that Decart is on a fast track to significant growth.
“We have a long way to go, and we have great stuff to build,” Leitersdorf asserts confidently.

The Minds Behind Decart
Leitersdorf’s journey to this point is remarkable. Originally from Israel, he moved to Switzerland and then Palo Alto due to his parents’ careers in medicine and research. His academic prowess saw him complete a computer science PhD at the Technion while serving in the military. Co-founder Moshe Shalev brings his expertise from leading AI operations within Israel’s IDF 8200 intelligence unit.
A Focus on Innovation
Decart targets three key areas: systems (like infrastructure optimization), models (AI algorithms), and data applications. Their software drastically reduces operational costs for AI model training—sometimes from $100/hour to just 25 cents/hour. This cost efficiency has fueled interest and profitability since their November launch.
The Road Ahead
Looking forward, Decart plans to expand its offerings with more interactive experiences like Oasis. These will include generative AI-powered AR or VR experiences that don’t rely on specific hardware. Leitersdorf believes in prioritizing software innovation over hardware constraints.
Challenges and Opportunities
While Decart’s ambitions are clear, the company also faces challenges. Questions about ethical use of their technology remain unanswered currently. However, Leitersdorf emphasizes the importance of user engagement as the ultimate measure of success. “The real king makers are the users,” he says, highlighting Decart’s user-centric approach.
As Decart continues to push boundaries in AI innovation, its journey will undoubtedly be one to watch closely.
